Pop-up Shop in Stephen’s Green Offered to Irish Business Duo
Self-styled Boss Ladies, Jill Deering and Gillian Henderson, have been touted by the Irish media as ‘ones to watch,’ since starting their illustration and print business in 2016.
Jill & Gill, their award-winning Irish brand, brings a fresh approach to illustration and print across fine art, fashion and design. Their aim is to create meaningful and impactful products and experiences that give a sense of value in what it means to invest in Irish Design.
Things are only getting better for the pair, who has just been given a rare opportunity by Aviva Life and Pensions, as part of the Champion Green campaign, to set up their own pop-up shop in Ireland’s shopping hotspot, Stephen’s Green.
The move will bring their brand to more consumers in the heart of Dublin and help their business recover from the drop in online sales they’ve seen since people have gradually returned to bricks and mortar stores.
“Small businesses like ours need to be back in the city, need customers to come in, to shop Irish,” says Jill, who is excited about what the next 6 months will mean for the brand.
The Champion Green initiative was created by Kilkenny Design, and is supported by Visa, to help thousands of small businesses across the country that form the backbone of the Irish economy.
“Without the small businesses, bigger businesses risk losing their customer base. And so, other corporates, large businesses and organisations need to up their support for local traders and identify practical means to support them as we move towards recovery”, said Marian O’Gorman, Kilkenny Design CEO
Suzie Nolan, head of property fund management at Aviva, the latest corporate to come on board Champion Green, said: “In the case of Jill & Gill, we are delighted to provide a complimentary short-term licence on the property so that the business can explore the high street retail potential and extend its consumer reach. Not only does this support local creative talent, but it also strengthens the city centre retail offering with new and exciting Irish brands as well.”
